Biodinâmica in the training session on Hierarchy of Mitigation and Biodiversity offsets

During the 6th and the 7th of December 2016, Biodinâmica participated in a regional training on Mitigation Hierarchy and Biodiversity Offsets, organized by COMBO Project in Pemba, Mozambique.

On the 6th  and 7th of December, Biodinâmica participated in the training session on the Hierarchy of Mitigation and Biodiversity Offsets integrated in the COMBO Project. This project is being implemented in Africa by World Conservation Society (WCS), Forest trends and Biotope, and aims to reconcile economic development with biodiversity conservation and ecosystem services in: Mozambique, Madagascar, Uganda and the Republic of Guinea.

This is a project funded by the French Development Agency (AFD), the French Fund for the Global Environment (FFEM) and the Mava Foundation.

The course was held in the conference room of the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Food Safety in Pemba, Mozambique, and had the following objectives:

  1. Develop common terms on impacts mitigation on Biodiversity;
  2. Develop basic knowledge on basic aspects of the Mitigation Hierarchy;
  3. Exchange of information on international good practices in mitigation, including Biodiversity Offsets;
  4. Present the COMBO project and;
  5. Provide information on additional resources.

This two-day course was co-funded by Biofund and WWF and was attended by government entities, and by the public and private sectors of Cabo Delgado, Nampula and Niassa provinces.
