Biodinâmica participated and supported the official launch of the Provincial Platform for Sustainable Development of Cabo Delgado

Biodinâmica was present as a sponsor participant at the solemn presentation and signing ceremony of the memorandum of understanding about constitution of the Provincial Platform for Sustainable Development of Cabo Delgado.

This ceremony took place on June 30, 2017, at the Kauri Resort, in the Pemba Pemba in Cabo Delgado. Biodinâmica sponsored the event, having carried out the photo report of the event. The Provincial Platform for Sustainable Development (PPDS) is a platform organized by MITADER in cooperation with the World Bank, which results from the identified need to promote multisector collaborations for integrated management of natural resources. This Platform aims to bring together the different stakeholders to discuss strategic actions to achieve the sustainable development of the Cabo Delgado province, and its vision is to make this landscape a national model of integrated and sustainable management of land and sea resources, bringing social benefit, economic and environmental development for present and future generations.

The PPDS intends to integrate the Provincial and District Government, Civil Society, Communities, Private Sector, Academy, Media and other Partners into its constitution, and its main geographic area of activities is the Quirimbas National Park where it will focus on the following thematic areas:

  • Forest and Wildlife;
  • Land and Water;
  • Agriculture and Livestock;
  • Energy and Mining; Climate change;
  • Infrastructure and Water Resources;
  • Tourism; Industry and Commerce;
  • Marine, Lake and River Resources;
  • Social, Economic and Demographic fields.

The Platform will operate through an Advisory Board, supported by a Secretariat, and 10 Working Groups under mentioned the thematic areas. At this moment, the PPDS is looking for partners who can compose these groups and contribute to the operation of the platform.

Will be created a database that will incorporate all the information from the surveys carried out under this platform, which will enable this information to be in the public domain. The next step will be to launch the monitoring program for environmental indicators for the covered districts, which will award the most sustainable districts.

At the official presentation ceremony of this platform, which counted with Biodinâmica´s participation, was signed a memorandum of understanding about the constitution of the advisory council and secretariat of the same by the Government / MITADER, the Civil Society / Forum of Non-Governmental Organizations of Cabo Delgado (FOCADE) the Private Sector / Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique (CTA) – Provincial Business Council (CEP), Academia / UNILÚRIO and the Media / Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA).
