Last Thursday, 16th of March of 2017, Biodinâmica was present at the Cabo Delgado Integrated Landscape Management Workshop which was held at the Lúrio University in Pemba, Mozambique and organized by the National Sustainable Development Fund. Government, private sector, civil society and academia representatives were assembled .

With the objective to discuss strategic actions to manage the landscape of the Quirimbas National Park (QNP) in a sustainable manner and present the Integrated Landscape Management Program of Cabo Delgado the creation of a platform for sustainable development was discussed.

This platform will have thematic groups, made up of various sectors of society, which will aim to act as an advisory entity . The constitution of this platform is still in the structuring phase, which will follow the competition and selection of its members.

This workshop was also presented as a possible model to follow the case of success in the Integrated Landscape Management Development of the Luangwa Valley National Park in Zambia, implemented by COMACO, a non-profit organization that created new farming practices and mechanisms of income generation for local communities, in order to reduce forest exploitation and intensive fauna.

Between presentations, debates, discussions and practical exercises the workshop was based on the possible interventions that could improve the current situation of Cabo Delgado, more specifically in PNQ.
